Based on the Solent, in Hythe Southampton, Hydromax Powerboats are a young company with a driving desire to design and build the very finest quality, rigid inflatable boats of world class standard. With it’s origins in the UK, RIB’s have existed since 1964 when Rear Admiral Desmond J Hoare and his South Wales college students adapted their torn 3.7m inflatable rescue boat by using a piece of plywood sheet. This first “RIB” was named the Atlanta and led to a further five rigid inflatable boats being developed for the college’ s own use and were even shown at the 1964 London Boat Show.

Of course things have moved on since those days and RIB’s are now designed with hydroplaning hulls, flexible tubes, low weight, high maneuverability, speed and beauty making them diverse enough to be used as rescue crafts, safety boats, superyacht tenders, diving boats and leisure boats.
